Term Three - Superheroes

In this topic children will explore superhero stories and comics. They will link their own uniqueness to their learning and discover how they are ‘superheroes’. They will explore materials and their properties and will begin to design, implement and review all their creative opportunities. 

We will explore: 

Supertato: character, description, good, evil, hero, villain  

Spidey and friends/Marvel: fast, slow, super, helpful, character, power 

Miraculous: friendship, enemy, unique, special,  

Batman: fly, rescue, experiment, investigate, explore, design 

PJ Masks: mask, costume, movement, action,  

Ninja turtles: past, present, old, new, power 

Some of our WOW moments will be: Dress as a superhero and Forest School.

Term Two - Celebrate With Me

In this topic:  Children will explore different celebrations. They will look at similarities and differences between themselves and others in their community and around the world.  We will learn about: 

Room on a Broom (Halloween); Fireworks; Remembrance; Diwali and other celebrations; Birthdays; Weddings; Christmas around the world; Christmas.

Some of our WOW moments will be:  Autumn messy play, Personal experiences of bonfire night, Diwali lamps, Come to school in wedding attire, Church visitor, Christmas around the world experience – food, music, gifts, stories from each country, Christmas parent afternoon, Christmas parties – grotto, Christmas jumper day and Christmas dinner

Term One - All About Me

In this topic we will be learning about ourselves, our families and the people who help us. 

We will explore: Starting School/Settling; Me; My family; My School/Teachers; My Clever hands and feet/Doctors and Dentists; People who help us/Police; People who help us/Firefighters. 

Key Vocabulary: 

School, lunch, snack, rules, classroom, playground, hall 

Family, mum, dad, sister, brother, auntie, uncle, cousin, grandparents 

Teacher, classroom, hall, library, playground 

Doctor, nurse, hospital, dentist, ill, injury

P.E day for Reception children is scheduled for Wednesday.

Please remove your child's earrings on these days - The adults in the school are not allowed to remove any children's earrings. However, if your child can remove them we will provide an envelope to keep them safe. 

 

TERM ONE -

 

TEACHER LED PE SESSION ON WEDNESDAY

Children will need to come to school WEARING their school uniform where they will then change into their PE kit at school.

We will update you throughout the year with any changes to P.E days.
